Dollar

Make Sense

Seventies karate funk for the Common Sensei.

The brief

Dollar Car Rental cast SNL's Mikey Day as the Common Sensei, a wise teacher who cuts through the nonsense of travel, along with five eccentric characters who need his wisdom. The campaign was reintroducing Dollar to renters everywhere, so it needed a sound as memorable as the man in the gi.

The sound

We built the theme on 1970s karate films and James Brown funk, so you can feel every kick. The sound design punches up every gag, giving the campaign a sonic identity that makes as much sense as the brand.
